Film and TV producer Yanni Koutsomitis was born in Remscheid, Germany in 1964. He graduated from Athens University and earned a BA in German Studies. Subsequently he attended the Summer Production Workshop of the USC School of Cinema/Universal Studios. He has been actively involved in Greece in the production of numerous television programs as producer, executive producer and line producer. He has been awarded three times with the prestigious "Prosopa" Award as Producer of the Year. He has been awarded for the following productions: "Red-dyed Hair" (1992), "Love Came A Day Late" (1998), "Niobe" (2004). He has also been involved successfully in co-production deals having produced "After the End of World" in 1999 a $1M co-production with Bulgaria's Beta BM 4 and Germany's Saxonia Media sold internationally by Bavaria Films. A surprise hit at the 1999 Berlin International Film Festival. Says Variety's David Stratton, "One of the most accessible films to emerge from Bulgaria, this is a humane, affective plea for racial and religious tolerance". |
